“A clean old car is better looking than a dirty new car”. Those were words uttered by my mother many years ago. It’s funny how things stay with you for so long. To this day those words are echoed in my mind when my car is in need of a good wash. These are reasons why it’s important to keep your car clean in the winter.
It keeps it looking good – By removing the snow, dirt, dust and debris from the exterior it will keep it looking good and maintaining that luster especially if it is rather new.
Salt – It helps to prevent the accumulation of salt and other chemicals that clings to your car when salt is put on the streets to help with clearing ice and snow for safer driving. Excessive salt can sometimes lead to rusted spots on your vehicle.
Windows – Cleaning the windows makes for a cleaner and safer view when driving.
Pigeon droppings – Cleaning your car helps remove that unsightly pigeon poop that somehow finds its way to your car as they take flight. I was once told that their waste could result in the peeling of paint from your car.
Selling it – If you’re thinking about selling it or trading it in, it will probably be to your financial advantage because you are most likely to get a better price for it.
Investment – Why spend that kind of money on such an expensive investment and ignore proper cleaning and maintenance? It just doesn’t make monetary sense.
It speaks a lot about you – It makes a statement about the value you place on something that you’ve spent your hard-earned money on. When you take the time to take care of your vehicle it sends the message that you take pride in what you are blessed to have.
There are automatic and self-service car washes that can usually be found in your locality. And while you’re at it don’t forget to spruce up the inside with an occasional vacuum and a fresh fragrance to make for an enjoyable driving experience.
